“After seeing very positive results with my brother I decided to give hypnosis a try for a couple of issues I had been battling. I have personally experienced steady improvements since my appointment with Tamelynda. My confidence has grown, anxiety reduced as well as many other positive results. I have complete trust in Tamelynda, she has made the whole experience positive. I highly recommend her services, life changing without a doubt. Such a kind, caring and genuine lady.” ~ Elizabeth M. Myth: Loss of Consciousness
It seems to be a leading misconception that the client will lose conscious awareness and fall asleep.
The is alert and aware of everything and will remember everything the hypnotist says much like they would in any given conversation so that the subconscious can do the work necessary that the client agrees to work on.
Myth: Hypnotized People Do Odd and Crazy Things
This refers to performance or stage hypnotism.
In consulting hypnosis , the client will not perform any outrageous actions.
Hypnosis is used for serious purposes such as self-improvement.
Myth: Surrender of Will, Loss of Control
The ability to be hypnotized is reliant on the client's readiness and cooperation.
The hypnotist is there to guide and develop the hypnotic state and client has the choice to go along with the suggestions offered.
Myth: Revelation of Secrets
Hypnosis is wrongly believed to be a “truth serum.”
While in hypnosis, a person will not suddenly begin talking,
or reveal secrets or intimate thoughts they would not say while in the waking state.
In a clinical hypnosis session, the client is in control.
When you are hypnotized, you experience an altered state of consciousness. You are awake, but you are not paying attention to the conscious world in the same way you would normally.
Instead, your thoughts focus inwards and you go into a mild trance.
Trance is a natural state! Similar to most people, you have likely already experienced trance. Recall a time when you were doing something routine and your mind wandered (day dreaming out a window) or when you were so engaged in something, time just seemed to pass so quickly (reading a book, watching a movie).
By bringing you to a deeper cognitive level and by accessing your inner resources, you can then change old behaviors and habits into new constructive ones.
While you are in trance and experiencing hypnosis, I am going to tell you what to do.
It's your choice if you do it.
If you don't do it, you won't go anywhere.
If you do it, or allow it, then you're making the right choice because you came to me for a reason.
You will be asked if you are ready to allow yourself to go into hypnosis.
You will be asked if you are ready to allow your mind to take you as deep as it needs to go.
You will be asked if you are ready to let your mind do the work.
You won't be in a coma, or anything like that.
You will hear me and understand.
And the things you don't quite understand will just be set in the subconscious to your benefit.
If there is some conscious mind chatter, that's okay because it's part of life.
It's part of the process.
You don't have to worry about trying to see or do anything.
Just go along with what's happening in the session.
When you choose to go along with and follow the process, that's the right thing to do.
It's the right thing to do because you came to me to help you resolve something.
